This tutorial is for wiring and configuration for the EM-JP-CAM, HDCAM10U, HDCAMJW, and PHD220 cameras.
- Before power is applied to the camera the jumper loops must be configured.
- Blue loop: When using the camera with a Stinger radio this loop must be cut. For all other radios leave the loop intact.
- Green Loop: When using the camera as a backup camera with a Stinger radio leave this loop cut. This will enable the parking lines when backing up. For all other radios that do not offer parking lines leave the loop cut. However, if the radio offers parking lines the loop must be joined. For the HDCAM10U and PHD220 when used as a front facing camera, the loop must be joined.
- White loop: This loop must remain cut. However, the HDCAM10U and PHD220 can be used as a front facing camera. For these front-facing applications the loop must be joined.
- Connect the power and ground wires from the camera to power and ground.
- When using the camera with a Stinger radio connect the power and ground wires from the camera to the power and ground wires on the Stinger radio installation kit labeled Aftermarket Camera Power. The connections used on the kit are bullet connectors.
- For all other radios connect the red wire to accessory power and the black wire to ground.
- Connect the camera to the radio.
- Connect the yellow RCA jack from the camera to the yellow RCA jack on the Stinger radio labeled Reverse Camera Input. For the HDCAM10U and PHD220 when used as a front facing camera, connect to the yellow RCA jack labeled Front Camera Input.
- For all other radios, look for the same labeling or something similar.
- Enable the camera on the radio.
- On the Stinger radio, navigate to the camera settings on the radio and enable the camera: Cameras / Settings / Camera Setup.
- The button labeled Rear should be enabled for camera input 1 and the trigger should be enabled. Ensure that it is.
- For the HDCAM10U and PHD220 when used as a front facing camera, enable Camera Input 4 for a front camera and also enable the trigger. Back out of the Camera Setup menu and ensure Switch to Front Camera after Reverse is selected if you would like the camera to be shown after you shift from reverse.
- For all other radios, refer to the owner’s manual included with the radio.
- Inspect the camera for functionality.
